Would anyone out there on my dear f-list be interested in a holiday exchange? Could be just cards or a little present. I'm planning now, but nothing will be sent out until mid-December, so there's plenty of time.

So I usually don't go to fan events like signings or meet-and-greets because pyscho!fans are scary and I don't ever want to be one. Like the fans who go to SO MANY events that the artists/bands/celebs know them. Sure, not all of them are psycho!fans are most are just devoted, but the psycho ones ruin it for the rest of them. Also I don't like getting autographs and much prefer meeting celebs and industry people in a professional setting where I would get to work with them. Getting your paper signed/picture taken is too common. The opportunity to work with these people is much more valuable to me. I would take the memories of that over a signed piece of paper, anyday.

But earlier tonight at the Barnes & Noble at the Grove, Nathan Fillion was doing a book signing for Richard Castle's new book (the character he plays on ABC's Castle) and I went with applegoddess. Going against all my beliefs just because Nathan Fillion is adorable. How easily I am swayed. Instead of just Nathan Fillion showing up, the entire main cast of Castle sans Stana Katic showed up (but the girl behind us in line looked like Katic) and I got my copy of Richard Castle's Heat Wave by all of actors, the writer/creator of the show, and a producer.



On the top it's Ruben Santiago-Hudson and the creator of the show Andrew W. Marlowe. Right under the title it's Jon Huertas in red and Seamus Dever. Finally on the bottom it's ~NATHAN FILLION~ with the giant sprawling black Sharpie, and then the producer in the corner who's name I forgot and can't read and thus can't tell if it's D. Howard Grigsby or David Grae. Whoops. It's okay, because I still don't know what producers do, other than throw money around.

I was kinda hoping for a psycho!fan to go rabid and jump Fillion, but no one did. D:

As much as I geeked out at the event, it totally confirmed how impersonal fan meetings can be. It was such an assembly line of efficiency, which was great, aside from the face that the actors can't say more than a quick 'hey' because they're too busy signing like 300 books. They definitely tried, but it's understandably extremely difficult to be personal during these events. Fillion did make sure to put a face to every book he signed, though. Awww, I love him. Good job, Canada. <3

And I know this. And usually ohnotheydidnt only has a few in any post, and those are usually stupid stan wars or something. But this. Omg. OKAY.

SO. Everyone by now knows that Disney bought Marvel earlier today for $4 billion. Everyone also went 'wait WHAT?' and that's perfectly understandable. But what's not perfectly understandable is how nearly everyone is freaking out that this means the future is nothing but X-Men and Hannah Montana crossovers, or that Iron Man 2 is going to be ruined because of this. There were such freak outs that more statements were being released declaring that the distribution schedule for Marvel movies already in production would not be affected, and that contracts already inked would be carried through as is, even regarding distribution through Paramount.

To all the people freaking out that Zac Efron is going to pop up as a new character in Iron Man: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? Disney already owns like half the world (image below somewhere), and yet not everything has Miley Cyrus making a guest appearance. Disney owns ABC, ESPN, parts of the History Channel, Lifetime, and E! and yet not all of those have been butchered into the same family friendly type network that the Disney Channel is.

Disney owns Miramax (who has released Clerks, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Dogma), Touchstone (10 Things I Hate About You, Con Air, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou), and used to own Dimension (sold in 2005 but produced Sin City, the Scream series, and the Scary Movie series).

Are those all good, clean, family fun like High School Musical? NO.

Marvel right now has several big budget films in production and/or waiting for release in the middle of yet another comic-book-gone-film phase. They also have thousands of characters licensed out for merchandise and such. Marvel has lots of money and lots of devoted fans willing to spend their own money on Marvel products. Disney has enough money to buy Marvel. So they did. And now Marvel's money is also Disney's money. THE. END.

SECOND. Okay this one is just like two OMGWTFAREYOUTHINKING people on ONTD on a post about how Kate (from Jon and Kate +8) apparently spanks her kids with a mixing spoon. Some people decided to use this post to reminisce about how their parents would discipline them.

Some others decided to compare spanking your children for misbehaving to rape and setting your child on fire.

I shit thee not.

HERE is the comment thread that is sparking my fit of rage. For the TL;DR crowd: someone starts by asking why the news of a child being spanked by their parent is ONTD-worthy and it instantly dissolves into a 'yeah abusing your kid is totally blah' 'spanking is not abuse' 'omg yes it is' 'no it's not' bitchfest.

thewalkingman and karmapearl were the main focus of my reading where the latter just states that sometimes on occasion you need to spank a kid (reasonably) as a form of discipline. The former 'tears apart' their argument by making some comparison between spanking and burning your child with a curling iron/OJ Simpson cutting off someone's head that I can't frankly follow. I proceed to get my mind blown, and not in the awesome way.

thewalkingman doesn't seem grasp that children do not always possess the same mental facilities as adults and thus need to be treated differently. Like why there is a difference between spanking a child for running into a busy street, and hitting the lady at the grocery store for bagging your food incorrectly (this is all in the link, I swear).

Then karmapearl and tokitoh proceed to post well written and generally awesome comments detailing how thewalkingman is wrong, ONTD loves it, I love it, and thewalkingman doesn't get it.

Oh, the internets.

So I turned 20 today. Ummmm yeah mid-life crisis like woah.

But it's been an awesome bday overall. My mom got me a car (1994 Lexus ES300), my sister got me Wii Fit, kissophelia got me sheep earrings, I went to San Francisco last weekend, and Santa Barbara yesterday. I've been stuffing my face ridiculously at my favorite places aka Silvergreens and IKEA and kissophelia took me out for some GQMF coffee at LAMILL. Oh and I bought earrings with rubber duckies on them.

Though Operation Pinewatch (aka stalking Cap'n Fine / ZQGQ) at LAMILL was a bust.

My sister kind of wants to see Chris Pine at Geffen in "Farragut North" and I definitely won't complain.

Let's hope the 3rd decade of my life (OH GOD THIRD. DECADE.) is pretty frickin' awesome.

BEST DAY EVER Y/Y???

Today I taught some fencing, and then went to IKEA where I ate Swedish Meatballs and purchased 148 candles and 200 bendy straws.

My belief that that the general population is filled with petty hypocrites who have no actual sense of right & wrong but merely cling onto to their own warped sense of justice (because they are incapable of seeing the reality of their actions with their heads so far up their asses) has been affirmed this week. Thank you world, for never failing me.

I need new icons.

I've been going to the gym nearly every day without fail for the past month. Unfortunately, it's not doing much because I keep stuffing my face with pizza and cookies. My right thigh, that was previously 2 inches thicker and thus dominant due to fencing, is back to being even with my left thigh. I don't know if this is good or not though because it can be because (1) my right thigh lost 2 inches of fat, (2) my right thigh's extra muscle turned back into fat because fencing hasn't been as challenging as usual for the past month (my coach was out for surgery), (3) some totally other reason.

I ate monstrously today. And I am so friggin' sick of the elliptical.

And I am totally mentally regressing back to how I was 10 years ago. Musically, this would be a positive change. Otherwise, not so much.

Joshua Bell @ Disney Hall this April. Hollywood Bowl in July. Back in Disney Hall in Feb of 2010. I will be there every time. SO EXCITED. I LOVE YOU BB.

Oh and this year I HAVE to see John Williams at the movie music night thing at the Bowl. I have been saying this for years and it has yet to happen and this is not acceptable!

Watchmen was really gay and no one wants to see the Jonas Brothers movie with me wahhhh. Who cares if they're pubescent and thus can't stop their voices from cracking? JOE IS SO PRETTY.
